I run a variety of workshops and courses throughout the year which can accommodate up to four people each session.

Everyone has their own wheel to use throughout their workshop. No sharing! Workshops and courses are aimed at adults.

AUTUMN DATES
2 hour 'Introduction to wheel throwing' workshop - all abilities

No experience necessary! Come and have a go on a pottery wheel and see if you can make a pot or two, or more. You'll be taught the basic skills needed to throw a pot: centring, pulling a wall and removing your final pot from the wheel. If you learnt to throw many years ago, come along and reignite your skills. You'll have a couple of hours of fun and you may even discover a new passion. Max class size 4.

COURSE FULL!
6 week throwing course - beginner

This is a course is suitable for complete beginners or those who would like to refresh your skills. You'll learn the skills needed to throw a pot: centring, coning, pulling walls and shaping a pot on the wheel using different tools. You'll learn the difference between throwing a cylinder and a bowl. You will also learn how to prepare and recycle your clay. Over the 6 weeks you will work towards producing your best pots in the final couple of weeks which will then go on to be glazed and fired for you. This course is not about making a large number of pots to be fired.

COURSE FULL!
6 week throwing course - next steps/improvers

This is a course for anyone who has completed a Beginners Throwing course and wants to take the next steps and improve on their basic skills. You will continue to improve on your throwing skills by advancing your technique, as well as start to learn how to pull handles, trim bases and explore your creativity in how to shape and decorate your pots. Over the 6 weeks you will work towards throwing your best pots in the final couple of weeks which you will will go on to finish and decorate and prepare for glazing. These will then be glazed and fired for you.
